What Is CoolSculpting®?
CoolSculpting® is a body sculpting procedure in which fat cells are damaged by cold temperatures. As these cells become damaged, they are naturally eliminated from the body, creating a contoured look that is said to be similar to the results of liposuction. CoolSculpting® is gaining popularity as an alternative to liposuction since it is noninvasive, shows results almost immediately, and has very few side effects.
How is CoolSculpting® Performed?
CoolSculpting® is performed with a device that exposes a treatment area to cold temperatures in order to freeze fat cells. The treatment area is placed at the center of the device, resulting in slight pressure and a tugging sensation. Naturally, intense cold can also be felt on the skin. The procedure can be completed in less than three hours. Side effects are minor and include redness, tenderness and swelling in the treatment area. These effects can be expected to disappear after a few hours. Unlike many other body contouring procedures, most patients report seeing results almost immediately after a CoolSculpting® treatment is performed.
